Making Friends Is Hard… Really Hard
Here at Real Life Army Wife, our goal is to connect Military Spouses, Families, and Significant Others to create a community that fosters growth and positivity!
It can be difficult to make friends, especially as a Military Spouse. Keeping up a social life while moving every three years (if you’re lucky) and navigating the ups and downs of the miltiary lifestyle can leave even the most social of butterflies feeling lost and alone.
Not Just friends, good friends
Here at Real Life Army Wife, we are looking to cultivate a community of women who embrace military life to the fullest.
The women we work with don’t let deployments get them down, they don’t make excuses for why they don’t have a job. They fearlessly and ferociously pursue the best version of themselves while naviating military life.
This doesn’t mean life is always sunshine and rainbows. Nor is it pretty or elegant or luxurious. Military life is full of white walls and brick buildings, handmedown furniature and sharing a car. This life is crazy, it’s hard and it is not always rewarding. But boy is it worth it.
The women in this community handle the crazy, lean on each other in the unknown and they never let military life consume the beauty they hold within. They pursue their dreams and conquer their fears – through deployments and schools and weird homecomings. Because at the end of the day, YOU are the only person that can make your dreams come true.
How do we do it?
If making awesome friends was easy – that would be great – but it’s not. So here we are. We’ve designed many programs that will help you meet some women in the area who are looking to be more than just a Military Spouse.
MilSpouse Miles™
COVID-19 Update: As long as Fort Bragg is under the minimum essential manning requirement, MilSpouse Miles will be taking a break. Our priority is the health and safety of our troops and their families! We will update our Instagram and this page as changes occur. We wish you the best in health and safety at this time!
MilSpouse Miles™ is a walking club designed to bring Military Spouses together in their community! Getting the motivation to workout and live a healthy lifestyle can be hard when you have a great routine. Not to mention when your spouse is deployed, your toddler is sick and your sister just cancelled her visit to the middle of nowhere in exchange for a weekend in Mexico with her friends. Getting to meet up with some friends might be just the motivation you need to stay active, even when life gets crazy.
We meet every Thursday from 9-10AM at Hendrick Stadium to partake in some walking and talking. It’s an easy way to stay active and build friendships with other spouses in your community.
To get the latest info about MilSpouse Miles™, including weather and training holiday updates, check out our Instagram!
While there is currently only a Fort Bragg chapter of MilSpouse Miles™, you can apply to be the chapter leader for any military installation (stateside or OCONUS). Fill out this form to get in contact with me about starting your own MilSpouse Miles™ chapter!
Meet and Greets
While MilSpouse Miles™ is a great way to meet women in your community, sometimes you gotta go out in something other than leggings.
Our Meet and Greets are anything from Wine and Paint night to Brunch Q&A’s with seasoned spouses. These events happen on a weeknight or weekend, the perfect time for you to get dolled up and sneak out without those kiddos for a ladies night.
Sign up for the email list to get info on our next Meet and Greet event!
The MilSpouse Mentorship Program™
When you first hear the words “I’m joining the military” your brain can get pretty fuzzy. If you’re anything like me, I went straight to Pinterest and read all of the blog posts I could get my hands on. But articles on what to wear to the Military Ball and How to Get Through Your First Deployment, just don’t cut it when you have no idea what a Military Ball is and why deployments suck so bad.
The MilSpouse Mentorship Program™ is designed to help young wives and girlfriends learn more about military lifestyle. All you have to do is fill out a form about your experience with the military and we will pair you with a seasoned spouse that will give you guidance on where to go next and how to transition into military life.
While most of the opportunities we have at Real Life Army Wife have to do with enlarging your physical community, the mentorship program is an online base program so that we can better pair you with someone who has gone through what you are going to face.
